Holsters will be made to order! The price listed is the basic starting price for a molded holster, your choice of color leather and thread, built to your specifications. Basket weaving, floral carving, air brushing, design, etc. will add to the price. Contact me before ordering and we can work out the details.
These will be 8-10 ounce (~1/8") thick heavy leather bodies. For holsters I only use Hermann Oak brand leather, made from American cattle, tanned in Missouri. It's the very best. Holsters will cover the muzzle end by about 1/4" unless otherwise requested. Avenger style holsters are wet-formed and contour molded unless otherwise requested. Retention is held by the molding process.
Avenger style holsters are a single piece of leather that folds around the slide of the firearm and is then bonded and stitched together around the rail and trigger guard. A stiffener piece is bonded and stitched around the throat of the holster with a slot formed into it. The stiffener holds the throat of the holster open for easy draw and re-holster as well as providing a place for the belt to go through. The carry angle is determined by a slot cut into the trailing edge of the holster.
Thumb break snaps will be heavy Line 24 snaps - thumb breaks include a steel plate embedded in the leather for a crisp-clean release. Thumb breaks are generally not necessary unless you carry while riding a horse, motorcycle, dune buggy, or some other activity that may jostle the firearm loose of the holster.
Carry angle (or cant) is important! The speed and smoothness of the draw will depend on having the correct cant. In general, carrying at the 3-o'clock position gets a 0-5 degree cant, 4:30 position gets 5-10 degree cants. The famed FBI cant is 10-15 degrees. Not sure? I'll help.
I will need a firearm prop or mold to do the molding. If I need to order a mold it may add 2-4 weeks to the process. Not all firearms have molds available and custom items like lasers, lights, & sights can make some orders difficult. I will do my best to meet your needs!

Care instructions
Leather lasts forever if it's cared for. Vegetable tanned leather needs a little oil (olive oil or neatsfoot oil are best) everyone once in a while. For normal wear items, once a year will do. Oil tanned and chrome tanned leather won't take oil or water, just treat them nice and they'll do the same for you.
Will I make a bunch of something and not put my makers stamp on it?
I don't think so, scooter. Nice try.
What's the difference between chrome-tanned and vegetable-tanned leather?
Vegetable tanned leather has been around for centuries. The hides are tanned in a mix of leaf (usually oak) and acorn extracts. The process takes well over a month to achieve a tannage. The resulting leather is tough, stiff, and will accept water for stamping and dying. Some leathers (latigo, bridle, etc) are vegetable tanned leathers that are then infused with waxes and fats to make them have certain qualities.
Chrome tanned leather what most of the leather in the world is. It takes only a few days to achieve a leather that is soft, pliable, and smells fantastic. It's not very durable, however, and cannot take water to be stamped or carved. It's also mildly caustic. It's generally much cheaper since it takes less time to make.
Why is leather thickness measured in ounces?
When we're talking leather "ounces", we mean how many ounces a 1 square foot piece of that leather weighs. The thicker the leather, the heavier it will be. Once ounce of leather is 1/64th of an inch. 8 ounces is 1/8th of an inch. Usually leather weights are given a range (7-8 ounces, for example) since it's a natural product and some slight variation is to be expected.
